County Library Advocates Regional System Upgrade
Miss Liillan Newton, librarian at the Carnegie Library, argues for a county library system to extend reach and efficiency. She notes current strain from 1,400 checkouts monthly, 3,633 volumes, and about 2,000 borrowers, with a depleted book fund. She cites countywide libraries as cheaper and broader, proposing branches in rail towns and schools, shared catalogs, and a unified tax levy to fund operation.
