Mrs Mattie King aged 23 died at her home southeast of Vernon on Saturday afternoon. Funeral services were held at 10 o clock Sunday morning from the family residence and interment followed at East View Cemetery. She had been ill for some time and is survived by her husband and two young children.

Stokes Funeral Held Sunday in Vernon
The funeral of St. T. Stokes, who died suddenly in Houston, was held Sunday afternoon at 8:90 from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. M Batchelor, 112 Texas Street. Interment was made in East View Cemetery. Surviving relatives include Rev. and Mrs R. K. Stokes of Jasper and brothers from Houston Dallas Beaumont and Texarkana. The services were led by Dr. B P Lyon, pastor of the First Baptist Church, and a large attendance of locals attended with many floral offerings.

Twelfth Annual County Fair Closes After Big Attendance
