J M Batchelor of Vernon recalls Mary Batchelor as his daughter in law in a Houston stroke death. Stokes aged 37, formerly of Vernon, Texas, died suddenly at his Houston home from apoplexy. He had lived in Vernon on multiple occasions and served as shipyard supervisor during the war. He married Mary Batchelor on December 25, 1911. His father Rev R F Stokes is pastor at Jasser, Texas. Burial arrangements uncertain, with a possible Vernon or Houston burial depending on funeral plans.
