Wound Fatal for Former Resident Clovis Stokes
Clovis Stokes aged 84, brother of W N Stokes of this city, died in Beaumont after being shot through an open window while visiting a friend who was a deputy sheriff. He had lived in Beaumont nine years, worked as shift foreman at a Magnolia Petroleum plant, and was active in a Baptist church and Royal Arch Masonry. He married Honor G B Jordan in 1912 and left a wife and two young children. His father Rev R F Stokes had been a Vernon pastor.
