New West Yamparika Street High School Nears Occupancy
The new high school on West Yamparika Street nears occupancy with plans to move grades six and seven from ward buildings to the old high school. A meeting with architect Guy A. Carlander and contractor S. P. Hughes will decide immediate acceptance. The building features fire proof halls, a T shaped plan, 24 rooms, and an auditorium seating 829. There is room to add junior college instruction next year, converting the old high school to a junior high. Local residents Mrs. Auner J. Bonnie Maynard a 12 year old girl living between Rowland and Thalia on the Williams farm is improving at a local hospital after being shot while her brother brought a 22 rifle from the house. Aiming to kill an opossum the gun discharged. the bullet entered the hand and passed through the body under the left arm causing multiple flesh wounds.

M M Scruell has let the contract for a two story rooming house at the corner of Pease and Texas streets in East Vernon. G Cooper is the contractor on the framed building, 30 by 72 feet facing west on Bowie street. The house will contain 32 rooms with completion hoped in 26 working days.
