Superintendent to Lecture on Fighting the Great White Plague

Marion DeFoe killed in Oklahoma field shooting
Marion DeFoe, 62, a former Vernon man, was shot and killed Wednesday at his farm sixteen miles southeast of Frederick Oklahoma after an argument with a Negro cotton picker named Williams over cotton picking. Williams chased DeFoe to his home, where DeFoe and his son Richard armed themselves. Williams fired through a door, killing DeFoe instantly. Richard DeFoe then fired with a shotgun. the Negro is dying in the Frederick county jail. DeFoe owned a wagon yard in Vernon and a Tillman county farm, survived by several children and four Fort Worth brothers.
