Pipeline work by Waggoner Refining and Sinclair progresses as lines are laid to link the field with Electra and beyond.

In Wilbarger County Tuesday a light general election turnout favored Governor Democratic nominee Mrs Miriam A Ferguson over Republican opponent Dr George C Butte and Independent Progressive R M LaFollette. Davis won county for President with 1377 to 273 for Coolidge and 58 for LaFollette. Ferguson 1148 to 734 for Butte.

Dula Jr Arrested on Return to New York in Divorce Case

Site for New Ice Plant Announced in Vernon
The Vernon Electric and Lee Company announced the closing of deals for four lots at Cumberland and Olive streets with 120 by 110 foot frontage. A concrete steel fire proof building will house a raw water ice plant to operate before the next season opening. The plant will be electrically powered to avoid steam or combustion noise and will be designed to confine machinery sounds to the interior. The building is to be aesthetically similar to a city store and add to the neighborhood, with construction costing about 40000 dollars. Lots were bought from John Brown J T Cameron and K H Coffee.

Vernon Drug Store Sells Tickets For Opera Night

Fire devastates Parsley Building on North Main street
A high wind fueled a morning blaze on North Main threatening four two story structures. Originating in the cotton offices of Indd Scott and Griffiths the fire spread from the Parsley building to adjacent firms Christian Kings and Havis John Reese. Firefighters confined the second floor flames and $10,000 in losses, largely insured, were reported with several nearby properties damaged by smoke and water.

New Pastor to Preach Sunday at First Methodist Vernon
Rev. C. A. Bickley, appointed pastor for the ensuing conference year, will preach at both morning and evening services next Sunday. He is presiding elder of the Corsicana district in the Central Texas Conference and must return home to wind up district affairs and attend conference sessions opening Wednesday. He likely will not be in Vernon the following Sunday, but will move to Vernon the week after to begin local duties. Corsicana builder B A Showers began erecting a one story brick structure on Pease street near the North Texas Hardware Company. The 110 by 60 foot building is to be finished by January 3 and will house Pallis Fulcher Variety store with part used as a storage room by the hardware firm. Local contractor hurt in cement mixer accident
Amarillo report states A. Swinburn, a local contractor, suffered severe hand injuries when his right hand was caught in a cement mixer at the City light plant on Tuesday afternoon. Two fingers were crushed and an amputation of the middle finger between the first and second joints was necessary. Mrs. John Self recovered from a spider bite on her left arm suffered last week.

Armistice Day To Be Observed In Vernon Tuesday
Vernon will observe Armistice Day as a national holiday with many merchants closing for the day. At a Chamber meeting merchants pledged to close yearly along with Fourth of July Thanksgiving and Christmas. The county court will move its session to Wednesday. banks and professional offices will close. A special train will run Tuesday to Vernon for the Amarilla football championship game in the Panhandle district.

Small Blaze From Oil Stove Explosion
Fire at the residence of Mrs. M. L. Currin on Fast Olive street yesterday at 7 AM caused little damage. Firemen quickly extinguished the flames. The wall paper was burned off the wall in the room where the fire started.
