Vernon youths face fines in county court for speeding and intoxication
In county court Thursday morning two Vernon boys were fined 100 dollars for speeding and 100.85 dollars for intoxication while another youth was fined for intoxication. Two adultery cases involving a man and a woman believed to be strangers were each fined 200 dollars plus costs and jailed for nonpayment. The speeding and intoxication duos were arrested by Capt. Clyde Watts and Ernest Thumpton of the sheriff's force. the adultery cases were handled by City Marshal D Key's officers.

Funeral services were held for J W Hodges 42 at First Baptist Vernon with Rev Mims and Rev Ronse officiating. Interment was at Most View cemetery as mourners and family gathered. Hodges survived by wife and three children. The Perkins Timber Lake Co shop closed in tribute. A fiery cross was laid on the grave by Klan members amid prayers and floral tributes.
