The city of Vernon won before Judge James V Leak in 46th District Court. Vernon Wicetrie and the company sought to amend an injunction petition to block the city from building an electric plant. Federal aid to pave forty miles in Wilbarger County
Wilbarger County can receive at least two thirds to three fourths of the paving cost on highway No 5 to the Wichita county line and the Hardeman county line. About fifty percent of paving the Lee Highway Vernon to Foard County line could be financed with federal aid if bonds are issued to cover the remainder. The plan would pave about twenty miles on the Colorado-to-the-Gulf highway and twenty more on the Lee Highway, totaling forty miles with sixteen and two thirds miles funded by the county and the rest by federal aid if approved. Judge Metlugh urged acceptance as the best federal aid proposition for Wilbarger County roads.
