The dove season opens tomorrow in this section of the state with prairie chicken season also active for 10 days in Gray Wheeler Hemphill and Lipscomb counties. Grand jury returns 36 felony indictments here
A grand jury returned thirty six felony indictments at the current session. Two capital cases involve murder and two involve rape. Frank Massie of South Main Street reports a standout home orchard this year with Elberta peaches praised as among the finest seen in the state. Samples were sent to the County Farm Demonstration Agent for fair testing and later to regional fairs. A three year old tree yielded peaches weighing up to about a pound and a quarter while Delicous Burbank plums grew as large as a small hen egg, along with two grape varieties in the backyard.
