Antelope School Trustees Hold All Day Meeting
An all day meeting at Antelope school house eighteen miles south of Vernon covered needed improvements. County agent Fred Teynolds, county superintendent L A Holine, and Oscar Davis spoke on school topics. Chillicothe Sowers 1923 Cotton First Bale From Farmers Valley
J. W. Bailey of Farmers Valley brought Chillicothe the first 1923 cotton bale. Ginned by Turner and weighing 350 pounds, it sold for 28 cents with a $45.50 premium from local businessmen. Last year the first bale arrived August 15. this season shows improved prospects.

Liles and Clark Display Prolific West Vernon Plums
J. J. Clark and M. V. Liles of West Vernon exhibited late plum varieties from their orchards. The fruit ripens golden yellow ready for jelly making and canning. Liles notes a limb eighteen inches long with over 100 plums on display at the Wilbarger County Fair.

Restraining Order On Light Franchise Continued By Court
In Dallas federal court Judge William H Atwell continued the temporary injunction against the city of Vernon and Vernon Electric withholding action on a fifty year franchise dispute. The case will be heard at Wichita Falls in the November term with a $2509 bond posted. The company says it owns the franchise and has breached none while Vernon asserts grounds to void the grants and remove equipment. Mayor Harry Mason and Vernon Electric manager J G Rossman attended.

During August, 3231 tourists camped at Vernon Free Tourist Park as announced by grounds manager BR Gilliland. 780 cars registered. visitors included a Honduran traveler bound for Salt Lake City and a London to coast traveler.
