Wilbarger County Pair opens September 1 with major upgrades at the fairgrounds. The main exhibition hall gains 40 feet in length, a concrete floor, weathered boards, paint, 28 booths, and new windows. Grandstand repairs, racehorse stalls, and better overall grounds planned. Terrell Doctor Burned in Tourist Camp Stove Blast
Dr W G McCloud of Terrell suffered painful leg burns when a gasoline camp stove exploded at Vernon tourist camp while en route to Colorado. His brother Clyde McCloud and Judge M F Cate with R N Cate of Terrell were present. McCloud not in danger and planned to resume travel soon. Judge Cate praised the Vernon tourist camp as a fine advertisement.

Youth may die from injuries after street assault
Johnny Walker age 12, son of Mr and Mrs Josh Walker, is not expected to live after a garden hoe fractured his skull and a brain portion was removed. Ermon Ivy age 15 is held on 500 bond for assault to murder after saying he was attacked by Walker and two other boys. Ivy says Walker used an iron bar and Ivy struck after being forced into a yard. Walker remained unconscious and doctors expressed little hope for recovery.

Mrs. W. R. Rice, 56, died at her Vernon area home Saturday night and was buried Sunday at 4 30 p m from First Baptist Church with Rev Frank McNair presiding. Interment followed at East View. City seeks electric rate cut via initiative petition
A petition signed by 238 citizens asks the City Commission to pass an ordinance reducing the maximum electric rate from 15 to 12 cents per kilowatt hour and to sell city engines dynamos wires and poles to Vernon Electric and Power Co at cost plus carriage.
