Relief from tax injustice bill proposed by Lackey
Cuero legislator Lackey introduces a bill in the special session to equalize assessments and ensure uniform taxation in Texas. He argues the State Tax Commission may only equalize counties, preserving county commissioners courts as the self governing tax body, and cites disparities across land, real estate, livestock, and banks while noting 34 states have addressed similar inequities.
