The Federated Presbyterian Church on West Wilbarger street in Vernon nears completion with painting left. Opening service slated for the second Sunday in May, dedication planned for summer or early fall. The modern brick building seats about 650, features a spacious basement, gym, kitchen, and classrooms. The pipe organ, built in Vernon by K Kelly, and a Mollor pipe organ, cost about 40000 dollars including 5000 for the organ.

Wilbarger County fair dates are shifted from September 24 25 26 27 to September 2 4 5 6 to avoid overlap with the Tri State Fair in Amarillo and to secure a contract with Warren Shaffer amusement company. The schedule realignment places Harden County fair last week August, Memphis and Childress fairs in September, with fireworks nightly and a sham National Guard battle planned.

Eastern Stars To Hold School Here May 23-24
The local Eastern Star chapter hosts District No. 2 with fourteen counties for a two day school at Masons Hall on May 23 and 24. Mrs. Norton B. Welborn, worth grand matron, and other grand officials will preside. The program opens May 24 afternoon with an evening session and continues all day May 25. Lunch will be served. Delegates will stay with local members amid plans for grand visitors. Last year the instruction school was held at Chillicothe.

Two-Year Term for Robert Reese in Big Duny Case
Robert Reese, also known as R. W. Baker, was sentenced in district court to two years in the penitentiary for bigamy. He sought a suspended sentence, but the request was denied. The docket also notes a mistrial in the Dunnagin whiskey manufacturing case and a separate verdict of not guilty for BE Sherman in an automobile theft case. Mrs. Mary Blalock received a suspended sentence of three and a half years for bigamy and was paroled to her mother. A burglar, A. J. Mrs. H. N. Norton Dies in North County
Mrs. H. N. Norton 49 died Tuesday night at 9 15 at her home in the Hanulk Hill area after an illness dating from September. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 8 80 from Fargo Baptist Church with Rev. F I Pearson officiating. Interment in Fargo cemetery. Survived by husband and six children including Robert Lee Norton Bewit Norton Jennie V Norton Nellie Norton Lizzie Norton and Mrs Loyd Bell of Grand Saline. A daughter Miss Lillie May died last summer. Mrs Mary Yoger of Fort Worth attended the funeral.

T. D. Owen Dies Today After an Extended Illness
T. D. Owen, a prominent Jarne sy resident, died this morning at 5 oclock at his home six miles south of Ver pop after a three month illness. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 pm at Central Christian Church with Rev. S. J. Kopp in charge. Survived by widow and seven children: N. F. Special Train To Start At Electra For West Texas Event
A tentative plan calls for a large special train from Electra to move delegates and pleasure seekers from Memphis, Childress, Lacudah, Wellington, Quanah, Chillicothe, Crowell, Verana, and Electra to a Texas convention. A pickup from Childress will gather passengers. The train will depart Electra Monday May 12 and reach Brownwood the following morning with concerts at stops.
