Jesse Martin Fatally Struck By Train Near Mule Shoe

Paving to Begin Soon on Highway West of Vernon Tolbert
Work on the highway west of Vernon and Tolbert, delayed by material shortages, is set to start next week. The project includes graded road, completed spur track, sand bin, cement forms, and a cement house tilt. The Vernon to Ottalone route should open about April 15, with about seventeen miles of concrete roads in the county once Tolbert is finished.

Mrs J P McCaleb Dies Near Lockett
Mrs Virginian McCaleb widow of J P McCaleb died at her home in Lockett at 10 15 this morning after several days illness. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at from her residence by Rev Edgar Pippin and Rev J W Ray with interment at East View Cemetery. She was born December 25 1887 in Tennessee and had lived in Texas since 1868. Surviving are five sons, a daughter, and other relatives.
