Ernest Zufelt Killed by Power Line at Knight's Ranch
Ernest Zufelt son of Vernal residents and newlywed of Frank Hale’s family died instantly Wednesday afternoon September 24 at Knight’s ranch near Duchesne. He was moving a hay derrick when a fela cable touched a 10 000 volt transmission line. He was a well known Ashley valley native. Funeral arrangements had not been made at press time.

Council Tackles Speeding and Grade Crossing Needs
City council discussed speeding on the paved highway and other sections. The marshal was instructed to curb the practice. The streets and alleys committee was ordered to survey grade crossing needs and ensure sidewalks lead to schools from all parts of the city. A wide crossing at Red Planet corner was noted for mud buildup. Weeds and grass blocking sidewalks near schools were condemned and tree limbs impeding foot traffic were urged to be removed.

Pioneer Zeb Edwards Dies After Long Illness
Zeb Edwards an Ashley valley pioneer and Lone Tree stockman died September 24 1924 at his home south of Vernal after a brief illness. He leased his 800 acre Lone Tree ranch to Wiley and Orrin Collett and leaves a widow and children. Funeral services scheduled Friday at 2 pm at the Congregational church conducted by Leo C Thorne.

Auto Crash Near Ashley Canal Injures Alta Thomas
Sunday evening a collision near James Hacking corner left Alta Thomas eighteen with a gash on her eyelid and facial wounds after a two-car crash involving an Overland and a Nash driven by Dr J W Stevens. Damages affected both cars. settlement was reached with Alta and her father.

Three Fined On Charge of Stealing Eleven Turkeys
David Timothy of Ashley ward filed a complaint seeking the arrest of Logan Empy Elizabeth Empy and Sophie Oselk on larceny charges for eleven turkeys. A Justice N J Hansen presided with a four member jury. The defendants, acting as their own counsel, were found guilty and fined the court costs. the turkeys were returned to Mr Timothy.
