Four Crime Confession Ties Murder to Murray and Trujillo
Nellie Trujillo and Elnora Van, companions of suspects, told Sheriff Lafe Richardson in Salt Lake City that Harris Murray and Ernest Trujillo killed Thomas Rhodes of Farm Creek. The two boys were arrested at Ely, Nevada, and extradition papers were secured. Sheriff Harries aided in bringing them back to Utah for trial in Uintah County.

Patriotism of Ute Indians in World War Recognized
A patriotic service at Fort Duchesne on October 7 at 10 oclock honors Ute Indians for World War service. The program includes songs by the Uintah boarding school children and Miss Bess Myers, a flag display, a patriotic address by Attorney Thomas W. ODonnell, a cornet solo, and a certificate presentation signed by President Coolidge. The public is invited and a large crowd is expected.

Jensen Ward Youth Severely Injured In Auto Accident
Leaon Ainge and Louis Murray, both about 18, were in a Ford roadster when their car clipped a wagon near the Jensen ward house. Ainge suffered severe facial injuries including a cut chin and throat wound. Murray had a glass shard in his eye and minor scratches. Ainge was taken to Vernal then Salt Lake City for treatment. Murray expressed sorrow for the crash.

Need of State Sanatorium Stressed at Health Convention
Utah Public Health association held its annual convention at the Hotel Utah Salt Lake City. Dr John A Widtsoe led the session and Frank B Cook urged Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce backing for a state tuberculosis sanatorium. George Albert Smith announced surveys and offers as groundwork for legislative action in January. Congressman Don B Colton called tuberculosis a pressing issue with commitment to continued support.

Mrs Helen Dudley Woodard wife of L H Woodard of the L H Woodard company died Wednesday evening October 1 1924 at 10 20 after a serious operation in a flat attempt to save her life Ill only a week. preparations had been made for an operation Tuesday but a rally led to postponement and a rapid decline forced immediate surgery Intestinal obstructions and complications proved fatal She leaves husband a daughter Mrs William Collyer an aged father five brothers and six sisters Funeral services will be held Sunday at 12 16 at the Second Ward Chapel with Bishop Hyrum B Caldas presiding.

Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce directors discussed a potential star mail route from Vernal to Grand Junction via Douglas Creek Pass. The plan promises 28 hours between Vernal and Denver for passengers and mail and faster mail from the east. A public luncheon is planned to detail the proposal and a Craig, Colorado route.
