The Staley Coal company purchased the Baese Lumber building and will place its office and coal storage bins there. SD Tunner and MC Staley, new owners, plan to store about 200 tons of coal for local trade at the new location.
Utah road commission announced completion of the final contracts to close gaps on highway U 40 toward dustless standard. WW Cistle of Springville will oil six miles through Deep Creek canyon for 14 650 50. Strong 4 Grant finish seven miles in Strawberry valley to Deep Creek head within about 10 days. One more contract to realign and resurface a section west of Vernal under the new AsEWAY program.
City3 plans to call for bids to install a chlorinating plant to ensure pure water before spring floods. The council aims to have the system in place by next spring, delaying installation until weather improves. Councilman W S Henderson notes the long effort and commitment to obtaining this facility before departure.
The Ashton Bros store will receive a modern front with marble and glass brick trim and metal mouldings. The $1700 remodeling covers clothing, dry goods, hardware, and grocery departments. Contracts are held by Fred Stone of Vernal and The Puller Prints & Class Company of Salt Lake City.
Mrs Elizabeth Emily White Olsen died Wednesday at 2 15 pm in Naples after a three month illness from heart trouble and dropsy. Born in Southampton England June 25 1874 she lived in England until age 1 immigrated to Salt Lake City then moved afterward. She married J W Olsen December 1 1885 and had several children including Mrs Jerome Goodrich Mrs William Holmes Wilford Linus Cyenshaw and Mrs Glen Openahaw and Charles. She was predeceased by her husband six years and by a son John 14 years ago. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 8 o clock in the Naples ward chapel.

Polish fronts claim German setbacks while Warsaw reports Polish gains and retreating German forces. Roosevelt calls Congress for neutrality revamp as cash and carry proposals surface.
The improvements aim to make the storefront the most modern to the East and are expected to be completed soon after the first of October.
Funeral services for Ella Glenn, a World War II veteran, were held Wednesday at the Second Ward chapel with Bishop John Etnir presiding. Interment followed in Vernal Cemetery with Taps by local veterans. survivors include Lavon James Glenn and several relatives.
Uintah High plans to join the Utah State High School Athletic Association in six man football this fall. Principal Harold Lunders and Coach Frank Wright say equipment is ordered and training will begin from scratch after eight years without football at the school. Several Utah teams have accepted invites, enabling exchange games and renewed rural-area football excitement with a smaller squad format.
Judge resistant supervisor nursery schools Utah Vernal will assist with the opening at the Community Hall. Mrs Ruth Skidmore, graduate of the T A C at Logan, recently from studies in Detroit, returns to supervise. She comes from the Salt Lake supervisory staff.
The lighting project for the softball field has been postponed to spring due to a late start and incomplete preparations. Officials note the calf herd at the fair pens will not be finished this fall as planned.
