A Shanghai report from Chomulpo Korea notes 19 Japanese warships and 13 transports reached the Tatung river on the 8th. Chinese cavalry attacked 6,000 landing troops, halving the Japanese force. Chinese artillery routed Japanese ranks, forcing retreat to the seashore as fleet guards prevented pursuit. Japanese losses exceed 1,300. further reinforcements and moves around Chung Yu and Chung Yo are reported.
