A four room frame house owned by Mr and Mrs Thomas Caldwell at Ashley burned in a weekend blaze. Neighbors including Mr Allsmith helped extinguish the fire after Caldwell woke during the night. the family escaped with only clothing as most furniture was ruined. The Caldwells teach and live in Jensen for the winter and mourn the loss.
