Soldier Woodard Campbell Dies After Long Illness At Jensen

John Woodard Campbell born September 26 1898 in Meeker Colorado son of Jasper Campbell and Dora Toles enlisted early in WWI, served at Goat Island San Diego Newport News and Nitro West Virginia, later worked in a coal mine and shipyards. He died October 25 after rheumatic heart illness while staying near Jensen, buried in his soldier uniform per his wish. funeral held in Jensen with local clergy and veterans in attendance.

John Birmingham of Casper Wyoming began a Green River voyage to Ladore Canyon last rapids near Brown's Park. His boat capsized one mile above Bear River. He walked from Patts Creek settlement to Vernal after exiting the canyon.

Parent Teachers Organized at Central School Meeting

A large Central school crowd attended the first Parent Teachers association meeting led by Principal James W. Christiansen. A report card system was promised, a program of readings songs and music was presented, and officers were elected with an executive committee. A visiting committee for November was named and the next meeting set for December 1.

Hy Rasmussen Seriously Injured on Diamond Mountain

Hy Rasmussen was kicked and trampled by a horse during a round-up on Diamond Mountain. He and a companion had halted to shoot at a coyote when his horse bucked, throwing him and trampling him, breaking ribs and causing severe injuries. A physician was rushed to the scene and remained with him as he stablely improves. recovery will take days before he can return home.

Man Arrested in Cheyenne Facing Federal Charge

Salt Lake, November 3. A federal complaint charges James B Cunningham alias L B Cunningham with impersonating a federal officer. He was arrested in Cheyenne by Burns agency agents after a prior Ontario California stint forging checks. Authorities seek him for issuing a fictitious Utah bank check and a car theft in Salt Lake.

Mrs W H Burgener wife of Professor Burgener Uintah academy band teacher suffered a painful injury Saturday evening when she fractured her right elbow. While waiting for Dr Rich to drive her home after a party she crossed near a canal and, blinded by car headlights, missed the bridge and fell into the canal receiving a cold bath. Dr J W Stevens treated her at home and the fracture is expected to heal rapidly.

Local trappers received 1104 dollars for the month, with the top payment to John Barry at 106 dollars and John N Massey area and Sewell Massey earning 65 dollars.
