John Woodard Campbell born September 26 1898 in Meeker Colorado son of Jasper Campbell and Dora Toles enlisted early in WWI, served at Goat Island San Diego Newport News and Nitro West Virginia, later worked in a coal mine and shipyards. He died October 25 after rheumatic heart illness while staying near Jensen, buried in his soldier uniform per his wish. funeral held in Jensen with local clergy and veterans in attendance.

Hy Rasmussen was kicked and trampled by a horse during a round-up on Diamond Mountain. He and a companion had halted to shoot at a coyote when his horse bucked, throwing him and trampling him, breaking ribs and causing severe injuries.
