Loving Mother Slaugh Dies After Illness in Davis
Naples correspondent reports the death of Mrs Michael Slaugh at her Davis home after a brief illness from uric acid poisoning. Born November 20, 1872 in Rochelle Morgan County Utah, she helped establish The Goodrich Farm in Naples and later lived in Davis ward with her husband George A Slaugh. They had thirteen children, ten surviving, plus a mother, three grandchildren, and siblings A G Goodrich Leona Manwaring Abbie Henry George L Lewis Byron Goodrich Lucy Lind.

Soldier Dies in Jensen War Veteran Buried Thursday
John W. Campbell, an ex serviceman of World War I, died in Jensen Tuesday at 3 p.m. of inflammatory rheumatism of the heart after a short illness. He lived on Blue Mountain with his parents before moving near neighbors. Funeral services were held Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Jensen ward house with ex service members from Vernal forming a firing squad and escort.

First Rain Report Marks Start Of Fall Weather
Ashley valley records its first fall rain storm beginning around 8 o clock. Rain persisted through the day until a light surface wetting occurred. By Tuesday morning the sky cleared and Wednesday brought a light frost with about one quarter inch of ice on shallow water. No precipitation fell on the surrounding mountains.

Well Known Stockman Killed In Auto Accident
Vernal was shaken by the death of Dav idel H. Johnston a prominent stockman. A Craig Vernal Transportation Co truck overturned on a rough curve near Craig Colorado killing Johnston and injuring two others as they waited to pass a gravel truck. At a Uintah Stake meeting, the Christmas Seal Sale Committee was elected with Wm M Anderson as chairman, Mrs Minnie J Davis as treasurer, and Mr Harrison as secretary and publicity manager. The group will appoint ward subcommittees to aid the sale which runs from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve to fund Utah Public Health Association clinics. The committee predicts strong county participation and funding for health work.
