Vernal Council weighs citizen vote on natural gas switch

The Vernal City Council will decide within two weeks whether to place the issue of natural gas system ownership on a public ballot. Howard Calder urged a special referendum, while City Manager LeRoy Taylor was asked to collect cost and legal details. Storage problem solved and bridge project in Uintah County

Uintah County last week purchased a used safe from Davis County installed in the recorder's office to hold forty eight books for about two more years as space ran out. The Alma Preece bridge across Ashley Creek north of Fifth West was replaced by Uintah County at about 4500 dollars with cement footings nine 24 inch beams and decking edgeways. The county is repairing roads and bridges between Vernal and Lapoint damaged by quakes with two creek projects in Lapoint a culvert replaced by a twenty five foot break and two other culverts replaced along with a large fill at Horseshoe Dugway.

Brown's Park Three Corners Road Opens Unhunted Area

A new game access road from Brown's Park up Willow and Birch Creeks to Wicklup mountain is under construction and due for deer season. Budgeted at 3500 dollars by the Utah State Fish and Game Commission and built by the Bureau of Land Management, the seven mile road will replace twelve routes into Wyoming and aid land management. Foreman Cal Jorgenson directs the BLM crew, with Lloyd Staying warning the route suits pickups and four wheel drives only for deer and elk hunters.

Uintah Union Meet Friday At Roosevelt
