Vernal Manila Road Camp to Reoccupy Carter Creek Project
The Manila CCO Camp on the north side of Ashley Forest will be reoccupied November 1 by A L Taylor Ashley Forest Supervisor. The camp transfers from Soapstone Camp in Wasatch Forest. foremen move with the company. The main work is the Carter Creek section of the Vernal Manila road, the poorest stretch, hoped to reach standard comparable with Sheep Creek this winter. Additional tasks include Birch Creek on Hirkernon Park road and campground development at Fideout, Palisade Park Campground, and gate improvements.

Blind Pioneer Robert Hall dies after heart collapse in Vernal
Robert Hall 84 died at home after a heart collapse Monday night. Born in England June 14 1850 he moved to Vernal with his family in 1880. He worked as a boiler maker at RR shops in Salt Lake and later settled in Vernal with his wife Ann Deney. He leaves four sons John Lawrence and William, plus 21 grandchildren, and a sister in England. Funeral services set for Thursday at 1 PM in First Ward chapel with Bishop Caldecott in charge.

Large Crowd Attends Beck Funeral in Vernal
The Verne ward chapel was filled Sunday afternoon as mourners gathered to honor Peter Stephen Beck born December 6 1874 Alpine Utah son of Peter Beck and Isadora Jameson. He died Friday morning at his daughter Mrs Edgar Taylors home. Interment was in Rock Point Cemetery. Beck lived in Vernal since 1891 worked as a sheepman trapper and farmer. He married Rosella Freestone in the Salt Lake temple in 1914 and moved to Dry Fork in 1910s. The service was led by Bishop Panthea Calder with remarks by J C Davis and others.

A party of A and R engineers paddled through Split Mountain canyon on Tuesday to study geology and locate a site for a re irrigation and power project. Bus Hatch piloted a two hour fourteen minute run covering fifteen rapids from Rainbow Park to Mie canyon near the Dinosaur quarry. delays included car recovery and washing out several bridges. The team then rode to G McDaniels, with eight feet of water in some washes, before proceeding to the Dinosaur Quarry and returning to Jensett by 7 15 p m.

French Adventurers Reach Greenriver City in Kayak Journey
Three French explorers in Tubber kayaks reached Greenriver Utah Sunday at 5 pm completing a segment of their Green and Colorado river expedition. They spoke of bad weather later in Gray canyon and planned to recuperate several days before resuming toward Jensen Utah and beyond. Uintah County Receives 6000 Auto Plate Funds for Roads
Uintah county commissioners announce a $6000 addition from the auto plate fund to be spent on the Vernal Lapoint road. The fund has accumulated over fifteen years. An agreement with the state road commission and Fort Duchesne Indian agency covers the Fort Duchesne Randlett and La Point Port Duchesne routes and a new Dry Gulch bridge on the Duchesne Randlett road.

Clark Funeral Held Here Last Sunday
Funeral services for Joan Eynon Clark, who died October 13, were held at the ward chapel. Speakers included long-time friends of Mr Clark, with music by the ward quartet. Interment was in Vernal Memorial Park. Clark was born May 22, 1854 in Parmington Utah and came to Ashley Valley in 1878. He married Theadecis Hateh in 1877 and is survived by his wife and several children, brothers, and sisters.
