Davis Farmers Meet On Pheasant Hunt Problems

Davis ward farmers in Seward chapel met Tuesday night and adopted plans to post property and require permission before hunting. A drive will target state seed areas and property destruction to enforce game laws. Committees will assess pheasant damage yearly and advise the state list and game commission on hunting season length to minimize damage. Ben Johnson chaired. Clyde Johnson was county attorney and Floyd Noel deputy game warden attended.

Chief A A Anderson of the National Parks Council led a Scouters training course at the Utah High School Tuesday evening. The meeting drew many Scouters and stake leaders and covered organization and committee appointments for Scout and Explorer groups. Objectives for the Scouting movement were outlined, with plans to continue and complete the work at a later gathering.

Duck Season Opens On Saturday In Utah

Bennion Again Heads Utah Red Cross Roll Call

Dr Adam Bennion, distinguished Utah educator and assistant to the president of Utah Power & Light, is named for the second time as chairman of the Utah State Roll Call committee for the American Red Cross. The Utah chapters enrolled 19,515 members last year, up 22,353 from the prior year, a 207 percent gain, the largest state percentage rise in the Pacific area. The current Roll Call runs Armistice Day November 11 through Thanksgiving Day November 24 with a goal of 30,350 members. Bennion is a noted author and public speaker active in education and humanitarian efforts.

Senator Elbert D Thomas led the initial Uintah County Democratic rally at Imperial Hall with Rep Abe Murdock and Roger McDonough. Uintah County to Seek State Aid for Lapoint Fort Duchesne Road

Uintah county commissioners and Wright, superintendent of the Uintah and Ouray Agency, planned a meeting with the state road commission to seek an appropriation of 7000 dollars for a hard surfaced road from Lapoint to Fort Duchesne. Wright outlined an Indian Service building program totaling 37000 dollars including the Lapoint road, while farm to market funds could not be used. A delegation from Ashby ward discussed a road project with funds formerly switched to Maester. the commission noted that more than 70000 dollars was being appropriated for Uintah county roads at present. River Riders Describe Gulf of California Trek by Small Boat

River explorers Paul Thompson, Artz, and Hubert Merriweather recount a hazardous journey from the Colorado River to El Golfo de Santa Clara crossing shallow, shark infested waters. School Board Deplores Drinking Water Condition

At the regular Board of Education meeting, a state board of health report found most county schools use condemned unsanitary water. Samples are monthly sent to the health board. The board urges remedial action and water treatment by approved formulas. Plans for purifying school water were discussed, especially where cisterns exist.
