Local Man Receives Army Advancement in Japan
Lt. Virgil L. McMickell, son of Mrs. Dora M. Richardson of Vernal, has graduated from an eighth army engineer school in Japan as a grader operator. He was advanced to private on June 8 and is now training in diesel mechanics. He enlisted in Salt Lake City on January 14 and departed for Japan April 26 from Camp San Manuel, California. He trained at Fort Ord Mar Salinas, California. Pvt. McMickell and Floyd O. Reynolds of Vernal serve in Japan in different outfits. He was the youngest oil driller in the Rangely field before joining the service.
