Rangely Oil Line Loop Project Nears Finish This Week

Officials from Engineers Limited report the Smile oil line loop on the Rangely to Salt Lake pipeline should be finished by week’s end. A $2 million system will be pressure tested at 1500 psi for 24 hours after water fills the line, which runs from Rangely to near Roosevelt. Crews weld and bury two miles daily on the Duchesne River plateau, boosting capacity from 46 000 to 53 000 barrels and enabling wax base Red Wash pool crudes to enter the system.

Uintah Football Players Named to All Region Team

Uintah High School earned multiple All-Region honors as Region Five selections despite finishing last in the standings. Co captains Jerry Cul and Gordon Horrocks led the all-star list with Horrocks noted as the top Class B right guard in the state. Vernal City Plans Fourth North Opening Soon

At a regular Vernal City Council meeting last week 2 million was approved to open Fourth North Street from Vernal Avenue to Fifth West as weather allows. Dick Karren and Troy Burton briefed the council on the project. A suggestion was made to add a new man to the police department for general utility work.

Downtown Vernalites watched the Vernal fire brigade march past the Episcopal church parish house and claim the country’s best dressed title. The award was claimed unintentionally as firefighters, in Sunday best, were dining after a turkey meal hosted by the Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary when the siren sounded. The turkey dinner was adjusted to cold turkey to finish after the accidental interruption.

Vernal Churches Plan Conjoint Thanksgiving Service

Prominent local church leaders will join in a second interdenominational Thanksgiving service in Vernal. Kiwanis backs the event with offerings to aid Christmas food baskets. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are asked to attend in uniform and sit up front. Organist Mrs. Norma Marrs will play. Rev. Chopper, Rev. Lundberg, and Rev. Aiken will deliver prayers, readings, and a Thanksgiving message. The service features “America the Beautiful” and “The Holy City,” with colors retired by Girl Scouts and closing benediction by Rev.
