Uintah County Metal Drive Sees Big Tonnage Collected
The Uintah County Metal Drive on Tuesday gathered about 45 tons valley wide and 25 tons on the county side with more than 500 workers aiding. Proclaimed officials and cooperating agencies reported strong turnout as 2606 batte by proclamation and nine war men were shipped as the drive moved toward supporting national manufacturing needs.

Noted local farmer and long-time resident dies at 96
Vernon Patry a 96 year old farmer and stockraiser passed away peacefully at his son William Patry's home in Roosevelt. Born in Lyons Prince on November 14 16 he served in the Prussian war of 1871 before emigrating to America in 1873. He lived in Leadville and later settled in the La Nais valley where he continued farming and livestock raising. Continued on page eight.

Youth Killed as Car Leaves Duchesne Road
Chester C Bird 15 miles northeast of Duchesne died when a car driven by his mother left the road after a tire blew out near Ba nt. The vehicle overturned in a barrow pit. One of six passengers, Chester suffered a crushed skull while others escaped injury. He was born Sept 16 1925 in Arcadia and was a Roosevelt High School junior. Surviving are his parents four sisters and two brothers and a grandfather.

Uintah County Moves Toward Meat Rationing Plan
Uintah County and all Utah counties must be ready by November 21 to implement voluntary meat rationing statewide. Dr Seth T Shaw, state chairman of Share the Meat, announced the drive naming Dr Waine Larsen as county rationing chairman. First Winter Snow Stops Traffic On Colorado Pass
