Uintah County Swine Quarantine Issued by State Agriculture
The Utah State Department of Agriculture imposed a quarantine on all swine in Uintah and several Utah counties. Swine are to be examined for scabies by a veterinarian and infested animals dipped in 0.5% foxaphene at least twice. Treated swine may not be marketed for 30 days, and quarantine lifting depends on majority treatment and clearance. Swine from quarantine points require permits to move to slaughterhouses or stockyards. County agent Ben Lindsay notes some farmers will slaughter home pigs.
