Scout Home Carnival to Attract Crowds November 18
Scout Home Carnival and Scout Home Ball promise to draw large crowds at the Imperial Hall on Wednesday November 18. The event funds the $12 000 Scout Home project and features an auction sale chicken dinner turkey shoot kangaroo court bazaar and dance plus games and a Shirley Temple doll drawing. Committee chairs and leaders anticipate a full day of activities with Scout and Girl Scout units assisting.

Funeral Services On Saturday for Andrew Winward
Funeral services were held Saturday at noon in the ward chapel for Andrew Winward who died at home last Wednesday from a paralytic stroke. The service, led by Bishop Eaton, featured mixed and ladies choirs, with prayers by Ivan Batty and Don Batty and tributes from Ernest Eaton Archie Johnson and Bishop Eaton. Interment followed at Vernal Cemetery with grave dedication by Myron Perry. Winward, born April 30 1899 in Vernal, was the son of William A and Mary Jane Hicks Winward, educated at Gilnes school, and married to Lotte Gray on June 14.

Delinquent Tax Date Extended By Commission
At a regular county commission meeting on Sept 31 Willis L Johnson presided. A petition from over 100 taxpayers asked to move the delinquent tax date for 1836 taxes to Dec 20 from Nov 30 1936. The request was read and unanimously approved. Other items noted included deeds for artesian well land, potential land redemption by former owners, county support for bill payments, and real estate tax cancellations for sold land. Deputies and road matters were discussed with several residents slated to appear.

Pheasant Hunter Seriously Injured In Gun Accident
Delos Kempton twenty one year old son of Warren Kempton was severely injured Sunday afternoon when a loaded gun fell from a car as he stepped to the ground. The shot tore flesh from his right leg and damaged bone while some shot lodged in the left leg. William Weeks applied a tourniquet and rushed him to Ashley ward part of Vernal for emergency care. Doctors do not anticipate leg amputation.

Move to Combine UBIC and Indian Fair Planned
An executive committee meeting at Fort Duchene discussed combining the Indian Fair with UBIC. Representatives from the U S Indian department Utah State Health Board Utah State Agricultural College and the Star Board of Health attended. Volleyball League to Play Games Mondays and Wednesdays
Uintah and Duchesne counties will run a WPA recreational program with a volleyball league and other activities this winter. P G Peterson leads the effort in Uintah and Duchesne, with James Abplanalp in Vernal coordinating the volleyball league at the UHL gym from seven to nine p m on Mondays and Wednesdays. Teams include UHS faculty Stilkles Naples CCC 42 ama Maeser Ashtons and Caig t ts. Girls and women play Saturdays one to three p m and a preschool class is held at the Community House. A basketball schedule with eight teams, socials, hikes, and skiing is planned plus a skating pond near Vernal and a winter carnival.

Six Mile WPA Road Project Started Friday
An $8,000 WPA road project in Davis ward was charted Friday. Din ah county sponsors the Davis ward job and two or three other county road projects to begin soon. The Davis ward road starts at the J. H. Reader corner and runs one mile south, one mile east, two miles south, past the mile and one mile south, with completion planned.

Vernal City Council met Wednesday night with a Lions Club committee urging city mail delivery. The committee led by Charles A. The Interior Department set aside 50 391 dollars to operate two work lamps at Dinosaur National Monument in Washington.
