Osteera for Uintah district of the Utah National Parks Council Boy Scouts were elected at a Vernon meeting in the Vernal First ward chapel. Floyd Noel became chair man, succeeding H. M. Lundell. Willam B. Wallis was named vice chairman with Harold Hulling er and J. Ferran Hacking as other vice chairs. Aird G. Merkley was re elected secretary and Charles A. Hatch treasurer. Early Pioneer Berton Burton Dies at Coast
Joseph Berton Burton a Jensen settler and Oregon transplant died November 12 in Portland at age 84. Born June 27 1861 in Coalville Utah, he moved from Ashley Valley to Oregon 11 years ago after a life as a stockman farmer and survey crew member during Meeker era. Survived by widow three sons Ezra Roosevelt Orson and Lawrence, one daughter Clara, and many siblings. Interment held in Portland.

FFA Boxing Bouts Draws Highlight Thursday Night at UHS
A large crowd attended the Future Farmers boxing event at UHS auditorium on Thursday. Nine of thirteen bouts ended in draws with two crowd-pleasing battle royals. Referee Bichee controlled action as participants delivered solid performances. Winners included Brent Jones over Marion Hall and Carl VanTassel over Kurt Caldwell, among others.

Erma Atwood of Pleasant Grove Utah County named state 4 T1 champion in food preparation by State Club Leader D I Murray. She earns an all expense paid trip to the 15th National Club Congress in Chicago November 27 to December 5. In seven years she canned 748 pints and prepared 240 meals. She planned meals for a family of six this summer and assisted in managing the home. She won 142 dollars in prize money across seven foods demonstrations and contests. Miya Awood competes for a refrigera tor prize and may vie for three college scholarships of 400, 300, and 200 dollars from Server Inc as sponsor.

Seven candidates filed for Uintah School Board seats in districts No 4 and No 2. Auto Accident Near Myton Fatal to Former Ashley Valley Resident
Beecroft Chartle Beecroft 24 of Moosevelt was killed instantly and his father in law Walter Daniels 47 of Roosevelt seriously injured when their car collided head on with a truck near Dundee land after trying to avoid loose horses. Beecroft survived by widow Sylvia Daniels Beecroft an infant daughter mother Mary Napolis Shurtliff hotel proprietor sister Ed Taylor and brother Mont Beecroft. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Homewell. Co W Showalter manager of Showalter Motor Co returned from a Ford convention in Detroit with 8,000 dealers from U S and Canada and many foreign attendees.

Delays in compiling full Uintah School District census returns due to late responses. Predatory Trappers Report Record Kill in Utah Quarter
A Utah three month effort by about 130 trappers under the federal biological survey and state game division reported the greatest kill in Utah history for July to September. Coyotes totaled 2010 with bobcats 269 and bears 3. Estimated livestock savings exceed 200000 dollars. Trappers used auto travel, with horses largely abandoned, and distributed 9108 pounds of bait while treating 9170 acres for rodent control.

A spark from tools during repairs on a truck at Showalter Motor Car ignited overflowing gasoline from a full tank placed on the Noor.
