Hundreds gathered Sunday for dedicatory services at Dayls ward and Lapoint ward chapels. Reed Smoot, former Senator and Apostle, spoke and delivered dedicatory prayers for both buildings. The Davis chapel cost 12285, started Nov 28 1933 and completed in fall, with music and remarks by local leaders. Each chapel features electric lights, modern heating, pew seating, classrooms and Relief Society spaces, marking cultural landmarks in the communities.

Ouray Merchant G A Broome Dies After Long Illness
G A Broome a Ouray merchant and stockman died after a long illness in a local hospital. Born in Texas, he came to Ouray in 1907 and worked with a surveying crew before joining M W Curry. He purchased a Willow Creek store in 1933 and was survived by several siblings. Funeral services were held at Kingsbury Congregational Church with remarks praising his integrity. Burial was in Vernal Memorial Park.

Uintah and Duchesne County stockmen reach a grazing land accord at Poasevelt meeting. They agree to turn 500000 acres of Willow Creek grazing land to the Indian department in exchange for 31 seeded grazing lands now owned largely by white farmers. The land will be returned to the public domain for white use under the Taylor grazing act. H. Stringham and H. W. Colton of Vernal represented the local stockmen.

1200 Utah Residents Eligible for Social Security Benefits
About twelve hundred Utah residents will be eligible for Old-Age Insurance benefits under the Social Security Act this year said William Hayward manager of the Salt Lake City office. An estimated 1,180 Utahns would receive benefits in 1937 but only 15 percent have filed claims. Benefits may go to workers aged 65 who reach that age before end of 1938 and to their estates or survivors if they die, with formal applications filed at local offices or the Social Security Board in Washington.

Four Criminal Cases to Be Heard in District Court Here Tuesday
Four criminal cases are scheduled for hearing in the fall term of district court. The first case to be heard November 18 involves Sherrel Haddon charged with traffic misdemeanor toward a minor child. Alternate defendants Walter Krajeski, Monica Krajeski, and Charles Krajeski of Connecticut face highway robbery charges near Jensen with Denver witnesses ready to testify. Other cases sent to federal court include Lawrence Migliaccio for wholesaling brer without a license and George Ramsey, Merrill Karren, and Lawrence Barren for selling intoxicating liquor to Indians. The American Legion Witbeck Post No. 1 sponsors a dance at Imperial Hall tonight.

Funeral Rites for Eva Siddoway Held on Tuesday
Funeral services for Eva Kelly Siddoway were held Tuesday at the Vernal First Ward chapel with Bishop F. Ponth Calder presiding. The ceremony featured a special choir, prayers, and remarks by Charles B. Carter and H. Walter Woolley. Interment followed at Rock Point Cemetery. Siddoway, born January 29, 1902 in Vernal, died Sunday at home from a heart attack.

Gun Club Trap Shoot Set for Saturday Afternoon

Open pheasant season draws 100 plus out-of-area hunters
More than a hundred hunters from outside the Basin visited Vernal for the pheasant season. They arrived Saturday afternoon and stayed through midweek. Deputy Warden Floyd Noel says hunting was active though birds were hard to flush due to weeds. Several groups used dogs. one drive yielded 25 birds. No major accidents. some property access issues noted but most hunters obtained permission. Birds praised as delicious and popular.
