National Parks Geology Course To Be Held Here
A preliminary meeting in the Uiitsh State Bank directors room heard Dr A Boyle Jr outline a proposed National Parks geology course under the University of Utah extension. The five hour credit course, open to all, costs $10 and will consist of twenty five lectures of one and a half hours each. The first meeting is Monday Nov 22 at 5 pm in the Ag room of the Amish high school building.

Utah officials will present supplemental irrigation and culinary water needs at a National Resources Committee conference in Driver Priday and Saturday for the Colorado River Upper Basin states. Gov. Blood named T. H. Humpherys and Sumner G. Margetts to represent Utah. A separate Monday session will discuss Great Basin needs with delegates from several western states. The Denver conference will feature Deer Creek Green River Bear River Utah Lake Salt Lake Aqueduct Gooseberry Creek and other projects amid a national drainage soil erosion plan to be reviewed by President Roosevelt.

Complete Grazing Code Ready by January 1
F. I. Carpenter, director of the division of grazing, told Secretary Ickes the complete code governing livestock grazing on 142,000,000 acres of public domain would be ready for approval by January 1. He cited improvements in range conditions due to a reduction of 2,000,000 head of livestock and said the code implements Taylor Grazing Act goals to preserve natural resources on public lands. During a six week tour of the western districts, Carpenter presented the proposed range plans to residents.

Services Held on Wednesday for George Jenkins
Funeral services for George B. Jenkins were held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Gillies ward chapel with Dishtop John B. Eaton presiding. The service included several solos and hymns, a brief address by speakers Ernest Eaton and Archie Johnson, and a healing benediction by Myron Perry. Interment followed at Vernal Memorial Park under Swath Funeral Home direction. Jenkins, 42, born March 12, 1895 in Vernal, died November 15 from injuries in a Saturday automobile wreck, survived by his widow Mary Elise, many relatives and five children.

Tenderfoot Round-up Attracts 150 County Boys
About 150 boys aged twelve gathered Sunday evening for a Tenderfoot Round-up at the stake tabernacle. Floyd Noel presided as district chairman while A Kirkham and Melvin J Ballard of Salt Lake City, Scout Commissioners, spoke. The event replaces usual stake programs and includes Tenderfoot qualification ceremonies and badge presentations for the boys and miniature pins for mothers as honored guests.

Tragic crash ends party traveling US-40 near Vernal
A six passenger auto party traveling from Duchesne toward Vernal was involved in a fatal crash four miles east of Gusher. Mrs. Chloe Richens died en route to hospital and George Jenkins died two days later from injuries. The pickup truck driven by Kenneth Mowrey struck a sedan pushed along the highway after running out of gas. Police say Mowrey did not see the stalled car. Four sedan occupants were injured, including Mrs. Deen Massey and Edna Horrocks. The coroner ruled an unlawful accident after a Sunday inquest. Snowfall reported later, with streets slick and local reaction mixed.
