Uintah stake will dedicate two ward chapels next Sunday. At 10 am the $12,000 Davis ward chapel, led by Bishop Alfred Slia, will host a Quorum of the Twelve member for stake conference with special musical numbers. At 7:30 pm the $18,000 LePoint ward chapel dedication will feature further music and crowding is expected. Ashley ward rebuild advances after last winter fire. The Vernal LOS seminary nears completion as plastering ends.

Hunters Report Bountiful Ducks at Stewart Lake
Local hunters say the open duck season last Monday yielded an unusually large harvest at Stewart Lake. The Stewart lakes hunting and nesting project, backed by the state fish and game department and WPA funding, has proven its value to sportsmen and promises additional access features once an east reads net is completed, including driving onto the dike to enjoy the river, lake, and wildlife.

Fire crews douse weed fire at Mackey home
A Saturday fire at the home of Mrs. Jule S Mackey was quickly controlled by firefighters led by Assistant Fire Chief J H Milburn. The blaze caused minor damage and was extinguished without injuries.

Mayor Cooper Chosen for City Leader in Vernal Election
In Vernal eighth time civic voters elected C. Cooper as mayor without opposition. In South Vernal Second Ward he swept all 133 votes, while in North Vernal First Ward 84 of 90 votes went to him. Don Barr contested for 2-year council seat, winning 54 write-ins in South and 44 in North. Other results include Charles A. Hatch elected 4-year councilman with 216 votes and several re-elections. Total turnout under 800 registrants across two precincts, with only 223 votes cast.

Welden Carreau is named chairman of the Christmas lighting committee by the Vernal Jr C of C Street Lighting Committee. He will work with Arthur Woolley and Don R F Barr on a novel plan for lighting the wettest four blocks of Vernal. Annual Pheasant Hunt Opens for Four Days Sunday
The annual pheasant hunt starts November 7 to 10 in Ashley Valley. Hunters plan to be early, competing with visitors from distant points for four days of fall sport. The first day yields three male birds per hunter, with two birds daily after, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Some sections are richer, but good hunting is expected across the valley.

County Commissioners Urge Livestock Show
Uintah county commission voted to halt ready construction work for now and extended county tax delinquency date to December 20 1937. A livestock raisers meeting is set for November 5 to plan a spring livestock show with representatives from sheep and cattle growers associations and other groups urged to attend. The 1938 budget for the Uintah county agricultural agent totals $1000 covering travel, office, communications, and fuel. WPA project No 177 may restart. road work has ceased pending funds. A meeting at the country court house on Friday evening at 7 30 p m plans for a livestock show to be held at Vernal next spring. The Vernal Lions Club sponsors the effort with a focus on better livestock types and demonstrated feed results. A study at Cedar City and range comparisons show fed lambs gaining more weight and yielding heavier fleece than range lambs, guiding future experiments and the planned show.
