Vernal City Council Race Narrows To Narrow Margin
In Vernal City election Tuesday John Stagg topped the council vote with 60 ballots to Gene Anfinson who edged ahead by six. Jack Parkinson trailed with 349, Charles Shumway and Royal Senderson followed as results remained tight. Samuel Snyder won the mayoral race uncontested with 704 votes for a full four year term.

Vernal Stake Conference Announced for November Weekend
Vernal Utah Stake announces quarterly conference at the stake tabernacle on Saturday and Sunday. John M Scowcraft will preside with a Special session for all adult Priesthood holders Saturday at 7 pm. Priesthood leadership meeting Sunday at 8 pm includes high council members bishoprics Melchizedek holders and quorum leaders. Regular session and Junior Sunday School begin at 10 am at the Stake Center.

Bids opened on fencing at Red Fleet dam project
Duchesne Office of Reclamation opened fencing bids for the Red Fleet dam and reservoir project. Vernal Fencing Co. bid 67325 dollars as the apparent low bidder. other bids came from Construction Hilldale Utah 22708 Lamar P Construction Altamont 90007 and Carbonarot Construction Chicago 129250. The engineer's estimate was 47400 dollars. TIT BLS will be studied in Salt Lake before award. The work includes removing old fences and placing 41000 feet of barbed wire and three cattle guards for livestock control during construction.
