Head-on collision injures drivers near Vernal
A head-on crash about three miles south of Vernal on 1500 West injured occupants of a 1971 Ford pickup and a 1975 Buick Regal. The pickup, owned by Superior Diesel and driven by a Vernal juvenile, overturned after skewing into the Morrison car, driven by Eddy Lynn Morrison, 20, of Vernal. Damages were listed at 3500.

Youth hunter dies in accidental gunshot near Vernal
Cecil Bart Murray sixteen of Vernal died October 28, 1977 from an accidental gunshot wound. He had been boating in Buckskin Hills with his pickup found by John Hacking and Wally Perry and recovered by Uintah County authorities. Murray, a standout high school athlete, was a pitcher on the baseball team and a football quarterback for Uintah High. Classes were dismissed early in his honor by principal Dr. Bert Glinden.

Ten gas inflated balloons were found by Chevron workers in east Red Wash near the Bonanza highway turnoff on Saturday October 29 at 1 pm. The 14 balloons were tied, four broken, and printed with Belles Harbor Lights San Diego October 28 1977. It remains a mystery how they arrived in Red Wash and may have floated accidentally from release.

The pheasant and quail hunts begin this Saturday at 8 am in Duchesne Uintah and Daggett counties and run until November 18. Daily bag limits are two male pheasants and five quail with possession limits of four pheasants and ten quail. Hunting near dwellings is prohibited within 600 feet unless permission is granted. Trucker Kimbel Dies In Colorado Truck Crash
Randolph Leonard Kimbel 21 of Vernal was crushed beneath his semitruck on U S 40 near Rabbit Ears Pass after the rig slipped from gear and caught fire as it descended toward Steamboat Springs. Passenger Robert Spoon, also from Vernal, was injured and hospitalized. Dalgarno Trucking announced memorial services and a company closure for the tragedy.
