Basin Hog Shipment Heads to Salt Lake City
Last Saturday E. D. Smith led a crew driving 325 hogs from Watson to load onto cars for Salt Lake City market. The feeder hog drive to Watson and rail loadout on the Uintah railway proves the year's first shipment via Farm Bureau.

Uintah School Board Holds Busy Meeting and Budget Talks
Uintah School Board met with most members present as Dr. C Colton was absent. A teachers association committee praised the Utah Education Association trip to Salt Lake City and urged continued collaboration. Pending bus transportation, students living far from Lapoint will receive 20 cents daily. ninth grade Naples pupils transfer to U H B, Vernal reports 12 pupils. Bank of Vernal directors proposed depositing half the school funds there, which the board supported. Whiterocks school will buy a Victrola for 20 dollars, funded by school money. Principal W A Paxton urged linoleum for the Domestic Science room and a portable stage for the assembly area to support dramatic productions. Paxton also recommended a senior high building near the present campus to serve county needs, enabling junior high use of gym facilities, with physics and chemistry room needs cited and crowded classes noted.

Dinosaur to be excavated for state university
Salt Lake City November 8 One of the region's prehistoric dinosaurs will be moved from the National dinosaur quarry at Jensen Utah to the University of Utah Museum. Excavation will be overseen by Dr Hari Douglass of the Carnegie Institute with Dr Frederick J Pack leading geology staff. the bone will be sent in the quarry condition and later chipped, assembled.

Death of Golden Slaugh Shocks Davis Ward Community
Davis correspondent reports the death of Golden B Slaugh on Saturday morning November 3 after drinking a poison liquor sold as intoxicating liquor. He rode toward Green River, fell from his high spirited horse, recovered briefly, then died at home three hours later. His father and local officials investigated the incident as a possible consequence of bootlegger activity.

Commissioners Transact Much Business at Monthly Meeting
At the regular Uintah County commission meeting all members were present. The board discussed a State Board of Equalization letter on mining property reevaluation and left the matter to the assessor. Ed Heller sought tax relief but state orders blocked changes. They reduced the 1920 tax sale to 1922 for land owned by William Cook and granted a $10 abatement for Amanda Remington, a widow, while J E Hail’s tax was set at 19.72. Uintah Railway Company trackage was added to the roll at 92 250. A State Road Commission request for 500 to cover bridge plans over the Uintah river at Fort Duchesne was approved with funding drawn from 6 000 credit from the state road commission.
