Diamond Pilot Jim Eskridge Killed in Craig Area Plane Crash
Jim Eskridge, 45, a Diamond Mountain farmer, pilot, and Craig Flying Service operator, died with three others when a Beachcraft Bonanza crashed 25 miles southeast of Craig in cloudy weather near the Harry Durham ranch. Also killed were Jay Brinkley and Lewis Pickett of Craig and Howald Delbert Gingrich of Hayden. Eskridge had leased Diamond Mountain land and ran a local landing strip, famous for a past emergency rescue during the 1948-49 winter.

Timber Fire Claim Against Fish Co Filed by State
A $3 402 60 damage claim against Fish Tractors Inc for a forest fire that burned 195 acres of state timber land last July was filed by the State of Utah. The Davenport fire in Daggett County on lands owned by the state USFS and BLM is linked to an engineering survey party for the Pacific Northwest pipeline contractor.
