Northern Utah deer hunt sparks outcry and calls for law changes
In northern Utah, the first five days of the controversial antlered elk season drew record takes while officials lament the hunt as a slaughter. Officials report 81 percent of deer checked at Blacksmith Fork Canyon and Logan Canyon, with many fawns and does killed. Critics say unlawful slaughter and rogue killings by disgruntled hunters threaten wildlife, urging an elder-sex hunt ban and stricter enforcement.
