A new cement pipeline project serves 13 families in the Maeser area by replacing an abandoned ditch system. The 12 inch main pipe extends 760 feet plus a pipe to the Arch McConkie residence, reducing seepage and evaporation, speeding water delivery, and enabling the system to carry up to five second feet of water.
A new 4H Club named The Jolly 8 forms with nine girls led by Eula Price. Jana Jo Anderson serves as president, Jana Long as vice, Toni Edrington as second vice, Sheila Morrison as secretary, Jer Reynolds as treasurer, Pattilla Powell as reporter, Joanne Roberts as historian, Arlene Price as chorister, and Sherry Williams as outing and project chairman.
Officials and businessmen in Duchesne prepare for an expected 500 additional residents and visitors ahead of the Friday and Saturday events. Last year about 8,000 people attended the Roosevelt trail ride finale from Weber during Labor Day weekend. Entries open now for the race, and riding clubs and associations across Utah, Colorado, and perhaps further are invited to join the Trail Ride competition.
Duchesne hosts the Uintah Basin Rubbers Booster Boys Trail Ride starting September 4 to climax the Duchesne County Fair and Labor Day events. The route runs from Duchesne through Tabiona and Hanna over Wolf Creek Divide to Heber, about 70 miles. Prizes total 3,710 with $2,000 to the winner, $1,000 second, $500 third, $200 for others. entry is $10 aiming for at least 90 entrants.
Sunday School program honors mothers with songs talks and greetings from El l Der Jay Winn and Elaine Cook. Local families visit relatives in Ballard Roosevelt and Vernal as residents attend church events, weddings, and Easter style gatherings. A district 4-H Busy Bees club forms with Delores Helms leading at Ft Duchesne.
A brief note reports that as Folia gains driving skills the community expects changes in traffic and social behavior. It suggests more people will be active drivers, altering city movement and daily routines.
