High Water Perils Hit Canals in Ashley Valley
Abnormally high April temperatures caused heavy runoff endangering Ashley Valley canals. Crumbling banks along Stelnaker and Upper Ashley Canals forced temporary redirection of water and two dozen flood repairs by A B Construction Co along Dry Fork Canyon. Water rose near Oakes Park Reservoir and access to Hacking Lake was cut by snow and wet roads as engineers planned temporary fixes while forecasting reduced runoff and poor rest of season prospects. Wm A Jacobes to Kanab for State Farm Mutual Insurance agent school starting June 4.
