MES President outlines gas expansion and Basin growth
Mountain Fuel Supply president William Nightingale told Vernal Rotary members that a 20 year gas supply exists atop every meter and that 600 wells currently dot the Uintah Basin. He touted a 103.4 mile 20 inch pipeline, predicted 75 more wells this year, and asserted MFS as a fully integrated western gas company with expansion room and dependable service for the community.

Local Horse Receives Cast After Leg Break
A seven year old registered quarter horse named Chico owned by Lynn Siddoway sustained a broken right hind leg after kicking through a fence at the Mc Neiltn ranch. The injury was discovered the next morning and a cast was applied to aid recovery.

Finance Lesson Ends With Horse Cast Replacement
A horse with injuries was placed in a sling using a block and tackle by Dr Eggera as part of a treatment described by Mr Siddeway. The cast is to stay on until July 1 before removal, later switching to a sheet metal cast. Basin Machine and Welding made the steel support, Larry Abegglen provided the sling, and Quality Heating supplied the sheet metal cast.
Young mother and man receive prison terms in Duchesne cases
Donald Gene Kazda 26 and Mrs Norma Roe Barker 18 faced sentencing in Duchesne and Idaho linked to armed robbery and a shotgun assault. Kazda drew one to ten years for grand larceny and up to five years for damaging public property tied to a Roosevelt jail break, with further charges in the Elden Brady case. Barker received five to ten years for armed robbery with a 90 day jail stay and 18 months probation after returning to Idaho.
