Recent Storms Bring Moisture to Basin Farmland
The large rainfall across the Uiniah Basin over the past two months revived the range and aided irrigation. Higher elevations gained snow providing water for early summer. In the southern county moisture reached 36 inches in places like Randlett and Abe Hatch ranch on Willow Creek, while Watson section stockmen note heavy rainfall. Diamond Mountain and Blue Mountain also show moisture gains.

Design for New County Building Meets Uintah County
Uintah County Commissioners held a meeting in which Salt Lake architect Lorenzo Young was chosen to develop plans for a new county building to be built near the old courthouse. The plan echoes local structures like the Field House and Vernal Hotel and follows a previously rejected city county building concept. Delegation members pressed for a road on Diamond Mountain and discussed Merkley Park sprinkling system maintenance. County offices will gain a 10 percent pay raise and revert to Saturday closures, with weekday hours 8:20 am to 5 pm. Chairman Orville Swain presided. other commissioners were C. D.
