Federal rules ease oil gas development on public lands
Udall announces amendments to Mineral Leasing Act 1920 changing terms and rents for noncompetitive and competitive oil and gas leases on federal lands. New limits raise annual rentals to 50 cents per acre, extend terms, and set combined state acre caps. Revisions apply to pending offers as of September 2, 1966 and reflect Bureau of Land Management actions via proposed rulemaking and later resumption of noncompetitive leases.
