UNESCO Group Holds Meeting in Uintah County
Uintah county UNESCO group met April 25 in the Central school library with twelve representatives. Chairman Martin J. Barrett of Ft Duchesne presided. Mrs. J E Stenberg reported on the state UNESCO meeting in Salt Lake City April 9, which she and Mrs. LeRoy Taylor attended as Uintah county representatives. Plans were made for a UNESCO Day program on May 13 to involve all county schools, with transportation arranged to be held at Ft Duchesne rather than Vernal as previously planned.

Funeral services are planned for Karl J. Tenney 57 a Vernal resident who died Monday morning after an illness. Born August 23 1891 in St Johns Arizona he was a veteran driller and contractor at the Rangely oil field. Survivors include his widow a son and four daughters. Services Thursday at 1 p m in the Vernal Second Ward Chapel Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints conducted by Bishop Phil B Watkins.

Former owner Dr. F G Eskelson of Vernal. Located 45 miles north of Vernal on the Vernal Manila highway, the resort will be readied for boating horseriding trap shooting and aik. The formal opening three 28 will be celebrated with a big party free dancing prizes and games, the new owners said. The road is passable at the present time.

Frank Hatch son of Mr and Mrs Bus Hatch won first place in open typing at Henager School of Business annual Mountain Empire Commercial contest in Salt Lake City competing against 160 business students from six states. He earned a Royal typewriter and bronze trophy after a 15 minute test posting 95 words per minute.
