Roosevelt Prominent Man Dies at Sheep Camp
One of the Roosevelt area’s best known figures died suddenly Monday at his sheep camp on Rock Creek near Altonah. Mr. Miles helped grow the Roosevelt and Reservation region and once served as a Roosevelt bank director. He lived in Roosevelt 11 years and is survived by his widow and six daughters: Mrs. E. H. Burgess and Mrs. Ray E. Dillman of Roosevelt, Mrs. Homer P. Edwards of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Melvin Harris of Dragon Utah, Mrs. Ray Hall and Mrs. Edward Evans of Idaho Falls, and Mrs. C. W. Smith of Rexburg Idaho. Higher altitude at Altonah is believed to have contributed to his heart failure.

James Fielding McKnight a former Vernalite stock grower from Brown's Park and Ashley Valley died in Park City of miner's consumption while engaged in mining. Early Resident of Ashley Valley Laid to Rest
John William Jackson died at his son’s Vernal home after a long illness from stomach cancer. Born July 3 1846 in Midway Utah he moved to Ashley Valley in 1878 with his grandparents and lived there until his death. He married Annie Johnston in 1889 and leaves three living children, plus extended family. Funeral services were held Monday at the Second ward chapel with Bishop Alfred Simper presiding and speakers praising his quiet, honest character.
