Great Diamond Swindle Debunked in Utah Colorado Tale
The article traces the Diamond Peak hoax across Utah and Colorado, crediting Clarence King with debunking the fraud after investigating a supposed salt diamond mine on a Vermillion Creek mesa. It notes the mine location near Diamond Peak, the lack of geological consistency, and the link to Arnold and Slack as fraudsters while recounting banker William C. Ralston's tragedy after exposure.
