Chris McKinlay, manager of Basin Chevrolet, was named to the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce water resources committee. A letter from secretary Gus Bachman confirms the appointment. The committee, chaired by F. Gerald Irvine, will meet in Salt Lake to discuss Pilot plant construction by Imperial Irrigation Co on the Colorado River, progress toward authorization of Colorado River projects, and proposed legislation from the President's water resources commission. At a Duchesne Lions Club meeting last Thursday night 100 percent of the membership was present. Vernal club member Wiley Baucum, joined by three Vernal Lions Thos Sweatman Clayton Simmons and A W Shepherd, attended, along with three Lions from the Rantlett club. Baucum noted Duchesne is the Basin's only town fully subscribing to the U S 40 association and said Duchesne is ready with their 1951 fund while Vernal has reached its quota.

State Imposes Load Limits on Main Highways

Echo Park Opposition Eased by Bosone Claims Clubs United

John Walkup Dies in Oil Field Accident
John A Walkup 31 of Whiterocks died in an oil field accident at Red Wash well No 14 southeast of Vernal when a control valve and pressure panel blew off and struck him. Funeral services are set for Monday at 2 p.m. at the Vernal Second Ward Chapel with burial in Vernal City Memorial Cemetery and military honors by American Legion Whitbeck Post No 11. He served six years in the Army Air Forces and leaves wife Helen Wilkins four children and parents plus four sisters and a brother.

The Vernal Rodeo Association adopts a new motto to frame the event, with committee chair Wiley Baler noting the show will run in late June. Contractors Marlon McBride signed a stock contract for the 1852 show as Baucum and J D Jones report from Salt Lake City. Two Ouray Men Injured in Auto Accident
A father James T. Shre wap and his son Wilson Shre wap of Ouray were badly hurt when their 1959 Chevrolet left the highway 144 miles east of Jensen. The car rolled over an embankment after a loss of control and ended down an 18 foot drop. Both men were hospitalized with head injuries. Officer Hatch Lee cited drunken driving.
