Vernal Fires Race Through Rural Yards and Roadside Patches
Vernal City fire department fought three fires in the past week. A cattle feed shed at 1210 northeast of Vernal belonging to LaReil Anderson burned for an estimated $2,500, the second blaze at the yards within a month. A trash fire started on a weed patch at 5th South and 2nd West, and another fire occurred on a county road northeast of Vernal.

Final Polio Drive Funds Reported for Uintah County

A five year old Glines girl, Maureen Bilings, was injured when she fell from a moving car on US Highway 44 about 1.5 miles west of Vernal. She suffered a skull fracture, cuts and bruises, was treated at Uintah County Hospital, and released to her parents. The accident occurred as the vehicle traveled about 35 miles per hour.

Airport administration building to rise at Vernal Airport
Construction will start immediately on a 26 by 30 foot administration building at Vernal Airport to house Frontier Airlines offices. A $10 000 appropriation from the State Aeronautical Board plus $2 150 from the airplane tax fund cover most costs. the remainder is shared by Vernal City and Uintah County. The project runs on force account with county road equipment and city water sewer setup, and an auto parking area will be added at the rear.
