Landscape expert Emil Hansen from Utah State Extension outlines planning tips for home grounds. He recommends grouping flowering shrubs along fences and near the house, using height variation, keeping soil weed free, and using trees as background. For walks, match width to the building and add graceful curves. For lawns, plant in early spring with a fall preps, sow twice crosswise, and use a Kentucky bluegrass and White Clover mix with about 1 lb per 560 square feet.
